Diwali

In India every small occasion is a huge celebration... Here I do not mean drinks and party by the word celebration. We value our families and diwali or any other festival for that matter is a reunion of the extended family.
Diwali or Deepavali is a festival to celebrate the home coming of lord Sri Rama, his beloved wife Sita and brother Laxman after 14 years of vanvas (living in a forest).

This festival is usually celebrated for three days, Beginning with the ritual of  a oil head bath.

Westerners find the concept of oily hair very yucky, but what you don't realize is that where you live is a place covered by snow, usually chilly,cold... but here in India climate is generally warm and hence oil is applied to beat the heat.. and keep your head cool. :)

Deepawali means "Deepon ki aawali" or a wonderful row of lamps. Lamp is the trade mark of diwali or deepawali.

Also rangoli or colourful designs are made using powdered colours

Before the festivals houses are cleaned and new clothes are bought.
Diwali is a festival for inviting goddess of richness and prosperity into our houses. On this day after sunset houses are decorated with beautiful rows oil lamps.Lighting of diya or lamp  is a symbol of removal of darkness or ignorance from our lives. During this day delicious sweets and delicacies like laddu,jalebi,rasogulla,payasam/kheer,appam,mysore pak, gulab jamuns, malai pedas, pedas.. are made and distributed among near and dear ones.

        Malai Peda

Children especially look forward to this festival as bursting of crackers is a tradition from before. But nowadays since people are a little conscious about environment pollution they restrict themselves to only lighting the lamps and stay away from the noise and air polluting crackers ! :) :)

This festival is today not only celebrated by Hindus alone, but is celebrated with equal pomp and show by cristians, muslims etc.

That's why we always find a reason to smile and say 'I Love My India' .
I wish all of you a VERY HAPPY DIWALI :)
Cheers

Makeup is air for women! They will die without it!

Today I had my internals.I just joined this college just 4 days back, and internals were here already!! that too two subjects in a day!! Imagine my plight ! That too all new chapters each had subject two chapters, total of six subjects!!And I knew about this only on the third day and fourth day I had the internals! Well, less said the better. Yesterday, after two internals till 4.00 in the evening, I reached home at 6.00 pm. I must mention that it takes around 1.45 hrs in the evening to travel back home, because of  the heavy traffic in Bangalore! My head was bursting... such bad head-ache n I was dead tired I had dinner and went to bed by 7.30 pm.Keeping alarm to wake up at 12.00 in the night.. Because the next day I had two tests each for 50 marks and I dint know a single word from the two subjects :(

The above description is to just make you understand my situation this morning when my mother woke me up at 6.30 am.So you guessed what happened, The alarm dint ring! I dint learn a single word and I had to reach my college in two hrs. In short my life was screwed!!

I cried a little, not that it helped but it is the best thing you can do when your left helpless! So I got ready, well got ready quiet well, thinking looking good will make me feel better.I decided I will write the exam even if I get a zero.

Well in the bus I sat listening to music and trying to study.I suddenly noticed the lady next to me wearing a dark pink lip-stick. Well it suited her but I felt she would have looked better without it.Now there were two other girls in front of me.They were dressed in simple but elegant clothing not a tinge of makeup on their faces. I admired how pretty they looked even without any make-up on.I got back to studying, soon one of the two girls in front of me got off the bus.

I just could not follow anything written on the book.I decided I will write from whatever I remember and I closed the book. Now I saw the girl in front of me covering her nose with a hankey.Suddenly her other wise beautiful light chocolate lips had turned PINK!!! I found her looking outside the window and spreading the pinkness evenly on her lips.I'm sure no-one else noticed her lip colour change colour from light chocolate  to pink. I could see a girl who is not at all interested in grooming herself in front of her parents, turn into a super model for her bf, in that woman.
I hence concluded MAKE-UP And LOOKiNg HER BEST  IS AIr fOR AnY WOmAn !!
ShE MaY RefUSe To ADMiT , BuT ThiS IS  UnIVerSaLLy TRuE :)
